I find inspiration in the beautiful Worcestershire landscape, and I go out drawing and painting en plein air as often as I can . I often use charcoal, and a variety of soft pastels on Pastel mat paper . Sometimes the work is completed in one afternoon and at other times it forms the inspiration for larger work back in the studio . These larger works are created using charcoal, ink, acrylic paint wash, and gesso on mount board . This is then worked on again with charcoal and soft and hard pastels creating a complex layered surface. Two of these larger paintings have been accepted for this year’s annual Pastel Society Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London, and I have a number of paintings in private collections.
I am exhibiting together with a group of friends- Mary Brittain, Gemma Griffiths, Erin Conel and Deborah Catesby in Mary’s house , The Granary . We all met while doing a course with Kim Williams at Malvern School of Art . Our work is all quite different and covers a range of starting points. Mary’s house, gardens and courtyard will provide a delightful setting to visit to see our art work.
