I find inspiration in the beautiful Worcestershire landscape. I go out drawing and painting ‘en plein air ‘ as often as I can often using soft pastels and charcoal on Pastel mat paper. Sometimes these studies are completed in one day, at other times they form the basis for inspiration for larger scale work back at the studio. This larger scale work always begins with drawings and first hand experience of places that I have visited. I use charcoal, ink, acrylic wash and soft and hard pastels on gessoed mount board. This creates a complex multi layered surface.
Two of these larger paintings have been accepted for inclusion in this year’s annual Pastel Society Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London ,and I have a number of other works in private collections.
