Hello and thank you for visiting my profile page.
Throughout my life I have followed various paths that have all contained elements of creativity, whether in visual arts or music. Music has greatly influenced my subject matter and my association with community arts activities has played a very important role in both my professional life as a teacher and my spiritual life.
In recent years I have been fortunate to have worked with a retreat centre in Devon acting as Artist in Residence, facilitating expression in general arts and crafts and book making. I enjoy helping individuals explore a deeper side to their spirituality through the experience of making beautiful things.
I am often drawn to strong, vibrant colours and patterns resonating with time spent living in Zimbabwe. Here craft making provides a livelihood for the rural populations and I particularly love the use of simple shapes forming complex patterns.
Visitors to my studio and garden exhibition space will get a taste of my processes, using mainly recycled and repurposed materials together with my own paper making method. Currently I am concentrating my energies on creative arts book making but there will also be original prints and paintings on show.
The books I make are very individual and I adapt the covers and interiors to form personalities so that each one is a journey of colours, patterns, different papers and layouts. They come in a variety of sizes and, although items of beauty they are intended to be written in, perhaps to record the meaningful things in life.
