I am a painter who lives and works in Malvern. I work thematically and am inspired by all sorts of things from ancient history to maps to music. I am alert to anything that gives me ideas for my work. I like visiting other countries and going to art galleries for stimulation and inspiration but equally can be enthralled by a walk on the hills. As well as producing artwork I give talks on art history. This is another rich stimulus for my own work. Researching artists and the context in which they work is fascinating and certainly makes you question your own work. I love the process of making art but it often surprises me. No matter where I start at some point the art takes over and leads me down paths I couldn’t have predicted.
My work in this show will be abstract and is loosely based on the patterns and rhythms of music.
I was an art teacher and university lecturer for many years and have really enjoyed the opportunity to focus completely on my own work. I have exhibited widely in the West Midlands region since retiring in 2017.
