I use my science background to explore different techniques for creating unusual fused glass and enamelled copper pieces.
In fused glass, the glass is cut and layered, sometimes with inclusions or added chemistry, and fired in my kiln. I love using complementary colours, often with an understated addition of shimmer or sparkle!
Enamelling is where powdered glass is sifted onto copper shapes and fired briefly, multiple times to create layers and textures - each piece completely unique and I love using bold colours combinations and getting amazing textures, sometime through under- or over-firing.
I run workshops in both of these throughout the year and love sharing my passion for glass - students get some amazing results and have a totally mindful experience! My husband, Chris, is a slipware potter and we run some combined classes together and often have adjoining market stalls at art & craft markets and exhibit at the same galleries.
