"Creating graphic and design driven artwork by (mainly) photographic means."
My art is constantly evolving but almost always involves a photographic process. My images are primarily about pattern, rhythm and texture, and range from representational photographs of the natural world, through to abstract pieces; some purely aesthetic, others are driven by real world events.
I'm a photographer first and foremost as that has been my main creative output since my teens. However, I've been a software developer and a graphic designer in former lives and so those things have quite an influence on the output and aesthetic of my work.
Since having a studio space my practice to become a lot more diverse from straight representative photos of 'things' and a lot more experimental. I often take photos of abstract details, patterns and textures found in other work. I love Polaroid instant film as a medium and use that as the output for other digital and analogue work.
I work from a studio space as part of the Worcester Arts Collective in the centre of Worcester. Please get in touch if you’d like to arrange a studio visit.

I produce a haphazard chronology of my artistic practice on Substack. It's mainly visual – photos of studio life, work in progress and finished pieces but with some thoughts, aspirations and inspiration. Posting every couple of weeks, or thereabouts. https://richardnicholls.substack.com
