Since 2016 I have realised my dream of being able to devote time and energy to what I love most and to developing my art practice. Working in my creative space among other professional artists, I feel content and connected.
I'm never at a loss for inspiration. Beautiful English countryside, Worcester cityscapes, scenes encountered on my travels in France or Italy, beautiful objects... any of these and more can spark the urge to create.
Out of my studio and when I wake at night I find I'm always thinking about works in progress and next stages. Our studios are closed on Sundays and Mondays and by Tuesday I'm longing to get back there! While working on one piece or series, the next is slowly but surely taking shape in my head along with ideas about how I'll approach it, so that I'm all ready to go. It's kind of ever present in me.
I like getting involved in local art projects, including supporting local charities, and meeting the challenge of commissions by both organisations and individuals. I also enjoy collaborating with local poets and in so doing I've discovered that I really enjoy listening to poets reading their own poetry.
My art has been exhibited widely including in Broadway, Cheltenham, Bath and Mall Galleries in London. This year there's so much going on locally... a collaborative exhibition 'Future Legacies' in The Artery exhibition space in Worcester, a joint exhibition at Sixteen Gallery in Cheltenham, a summer exhibition at The Wood Norton Hotel in support of St Richard's Hospice, a weekend exhibiting in the village of Ombersley, my artwork in a show home as part of a collaborative project with their interior designers Open Door Interiors, and the list goes on... I love being busy. This art-filled life is good!
