
Castles have always interested me and, after having retired, I began a quest to paint ruins and then recreate them as they may have been 500 years ago. My work often involves site visits and research in local libraries to try and work out what a castle may have looked like at that time.
I started painting in watercolurs, but soon changed to acrylics, a more forgiving way to paint. I paint mainly ruins from the English/Welsh Marches area. Lately I have been developing my style to lay down a base of bright colours to create extra texture and colour to my artwork.
