Abstracted landscape art is good for my soul! I can get lost in the creative process and enjoy mark making, textural effects and the drama of an abstracted art piece. Layer on layer of paint is applied and then very often destroyed in the scraping back to reveal previously unearthed detail and interest.
Inspiration for my landscapes comes from having lived in some of the UK’s most fabulous places – the North West, with its endless natural unspoilt beach and coastline, Sussex with some of the prettiest villages and sea views and in later years moving to the beautiful Worcestershire countryside bordering on the Cotswolds.
I have painted for many years developing my style along the way and I really enjoy the balance between chaos and control. The unpredictability of my mediums and the luminosity of my finished pieces create an interesting dynamic creating experimental and expressive pieces of work.
I use acrylics and oil and cold wax, together with inks, gilding and mixed media which transpires into something new and exciting every time!!
