I love to experiment with a range of different styles and mediums to create highly textured, colourful and vibrant impasto pieces. Largely I am a self-taught artist who has been actively practising art for over 30 years- working mainly in oils and pastels as well as metallic acrylics. As well as smaller and more intimate work, I also like to create larger, bolder statement pieces on large canvases.
Art plays a significant part in my life and I find myself constantly inspired by the natural world. I am fortunate to be surrounded by the ancient countryside of north Worcestershire and my landscapes often feature the dramatic skies and magical sunsets I experience here and on my travels. I also love to paint wild, energising seascapes as found on the Isles of Scilly as well as the dramatic scenery of Scotland.
I also incorporate unconventional methods to convey 3D texture into my work – even utilising Polyfilla to attain such heavy impasto in my art. I am always looking to push the boundaries to show life in depth in my scenes, so that the viewer can get a sense of what I see and convey in my work. My portfolio of work is ever expanding – both through my own experimentations as well as a number of private commissions.
