Since I was very young I had a great love of drawing and painting. Living in Pershore I have happy memories of sitting on a gravestone and sketching the Abbey where I was a choirboy and cycling to Croome Court sketching. I don't know whether my work had any merit but the art teacher at my school gave me encouragement to pursue my interest. Never long without a pencil in my hand I trained as a Structural Draughtsman and spent my early years in a drawing office. In my later years my wife and I were lucky enough to buy a farm at Leigh Sinton and developed a farm shop and nursery , P.Y.O. and ordinary field crops.
Many years on, retired and living at Linley Green I am able to spend most of my time painting interspersed with sessions in my pottery workshop, my other great love.
Working in oils and watercolours I strive to capture the beauty and calm of the Herefordshire countryside.
Whilst my paintings are based on realism I do like to keep the work loose and painterly. To this end I like alla prima and plein air paintings together with quick pen and wash sketches.
My potters wheel is very popular with people young and old who have never experienced 'throwing ' clay. I have had groups visit and had great fun. A group of autistic children have visited a couple of times . They were very happy occasions.
Please come, Daphne and I would love to meet you and have a chat and tea or coffee maybe.
Lots of pictures and pottery on display in the studio and house and work in progress in the studio
