Cherrie Mansfield

Pair of framed slim, vibrant abstract paintings created by Cherrie Mansfield

Colour excites me, grabs my attention and fuels my creativity. Using acrylic paint I create bold, captivating artwork that catches the eye and fires the imagination.

I work quite quickly and instinctively, liberally applying acrylic paint with rubber tipped brushes, painting knives and even kitchen utensils! I love creating intriguing marks and watching mesmerising contours of colour emerge.

Alongside my obsession with colour, my work bears the influence of time spent studying geology at university, my love of west Cornwall and anything that grabs my attention, like a line from a song, the pattern on a piece of clothing or a bunch of plastic spades at the seaside.

Whether you’re looking for a large statement piece of art for your home or business or something smaller to give as a gift or to pop on a shelf, with their striking colour palettes and expressive marks, my distinctive paintings will create an impact in any space.

Since my first public exhibition over a decade ago, my vibrant artwork has gained recognition and been shown across the West Midlands and in London, Surrey and St Ives. I am an ArtGemini Prize finalist and a piece of my work was selected for the Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition in London.

I have completed private and public commissions, including bespoke designs for windows in Worcester’s historic former Hop Market Hotel. My largest artwork to date, Jackson, was one of the most popular elephant sculptures in Worcester’s Big Parade art trail in summer 2021.

Visitors to my open studio will discover a collection of my original paintings bursting with colour and energy. You’ll find brand new works created in my Worcester studio alongside smaller pieces from my popular bold, expressive miniatures and captivate collections. Take a look at some of my paints and tools and learn about my creative techniques. Previous visitors have been inspired and intrigued.

During your visit don't miss the chance to enter a competition to win a piece of original art created just for you and younger visitors can pick up a little creative inspiration to take home. You can also stock up on greetings cards and purchase cushions, mugs and notebooks depicting vibrant extracts captured from some of my paintings.
