My work is inspired predominantly by the natural world around me. The colours, patterns and forms of both flora and fauna provide a never-ending and beautiful source of material from which to draw. My most recent pieces are inspired by the birds and butterflies close to home, as well as the flowers being planted in my garden (as part of an ongoing renovation project) that will hopefully bloom this summer.
I’m creating my own structural forms and exploring different ways to cut and place the mosaic tiles to create texture and interest.
As a teacher, I love to teach and encourage others, so my studio is also my classroom. I run weekly pay-as-you-go sessions where students work on projects of their own choosing. I enjoy seeing how each student learns, develops and gains in confidence as they work. There’s also lots of laughter and conversation! I run occasional one and two-day weekend workshops throughout the year (see the link on my website for 2023 dates). I’m also happy to run half-day taster sessions for small groups on request.
